The MiniChlor will naturally purify spa water using the electrolysis process on salt that is added to the spa water, eliminating the need to manually add chlorine. The MiniChlor operates on a low 2000 PPM salt lever, about 1.5 pounds per 100 gallons of water or only 5.5% the salt level of the ocean. Because the MiniCHlor works 24 hours per day your spa will always be adequately sanitized. In a spa with the hot water the chlorine can dissipate in a couple hours, so it is important to be able to make chlorine 24 hours per day. The MiniChlor doesn't have a solar panel power supply because there would not be any chlorine in your spa when you want to use it, assuming that isn't at the hottest part of the day. A spa isn't like a pool with a large reserve of residual chlorine, in order to be properly sanitized a spa chlorine must be added every couple hours which is what the MiniChlor does while only drawing 6 watts of power (about the same as a night light). The MiniChlor has no buttons, no moving parts, and is very easy to install. The MiniChlor system works as a convection cell that produces sanitizer (either chlorine or bromine) with a micro-bubble action that causes water to enter the bottom part of the cell as the bubbles leave the top. The MiniChlor includes 6 levels of chlorine production, salt level indicator lights and automatic cleaning of the titanium plates. The standard MiniChlor will sanitize any portable spa or hot tub up to 600 gallons. It can be a challenge to to keep the water in your spa or hot tub crystal clear and smelling nice. If you forget to add chlorine or bromine for a single day or the chlorine feeder runs out that could lead to spa problems. Due to the higher temperature of the water the chemical balance is critical to be continuously maintained to keep it safe. I got tired of balancing the chemicals and tired of having to shower off the bromine or chlorine smell after each use. The salt water sanitation method in conjunction with this device has brought the joy of my hot tub back. I started using it in October of '11, it is now March of '12 and I've had to do very little to maintain the water in the tub. Granted, it gets light use, maybe twice a week for an hour each, but still it is far less effort and far greater effect than any other sanitation regimen that I've tried.I wish the interface of blinking lights was a little clearer. The manual does not do a very good job of explaining the how to read the lights to figure out what mode it is running in. It took about two weeks of to finally "grok" it. The instructions are a bit fuzzy, for example, "the straight edge of the blade should be to the right when fixed to the hub." Sure it sounds simple enough, but what if you are on the left of the hub? The blades are not straight, they are contoured, so what the hell? I just put it together like I designed it and it has worked fine. I'm guess just a common sense approach to the assembly works best.The charge controller also clicks. I had to contact customer service to confirm this, but a note in the instructions would have been nice to quell my fears of burning the house down when my wife called me to say the controller was clicking.All in all it is a good product. Great backup By Arturas Grazulis I used it to create back-up for my basement sump pumps (3 pumps with 30Amps total power). Connected with 3 110 Ah Farm and fleet deep cycle batteries. Works perfectly and able to handle full load for significant amount of time. Consider connecting basement freezers and refrigerators to it as well and probably servers. Why to pay for useless 12 V backup pumps (they handle max 2000gal/h each), when you can connect your regular pumps through this charger/converter. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. The better back up power for my home By Olwing Ponce Garay I installed 2 of this beautiful machines on my home and i'm very satisfied in power outage may works for more than 24 hours if i use only lights, surely you need more batteries for make it work for that amount of time i have 9 batteries of 80 amps for each inverter and works smoothly, i highly recommend this product since it protect all things of low voltage andd over voltage, i have mines since 2 years and never fails, only bad thing is that some appliance articles like satellite receivers, motion detection lamps and some desktop pc sometimes turns off because the 20ms transfer time is not enough for this devices, but 98% of my devices connected works like a charm. and the remote control let you see how the battery is draining, usually i see my lcd tv for 3 hours before battery gets the 70% of 100%, and the tv is connected with satellite receiver,dvd,sound system, and lights of home, so i think this is a very useful inverter for any appliances on home.even i'm able to use microwave oven since it supports 3,600 watts continous, so it mean 6 KVA. hardwire is relly required for batteries specially. We've known that we would need a generator, but waited awhile because there is so much sun in southern Arizona. I had a long time to research generators and to evaluate our needs. We only need a generator to get us through rare times when it's too cloudy to produce enough power from the solar panels. And of course, there's the chance that something will fail in the solar equipment.I had originally planned on spending $6000 on a generator. Looking at our actual needs overtime I came to realize that 8KW would easily power not only our daily needs, but would also easily recharge the battery bank on cloudy days. After revising my needs I discovered the Generac 5882. The price was amazing and the specs looked perfect for us. I had a few questions and contacted the people at Generac. They were extremely helpful answering question and proving a kit so our solar equipment can turn on and off the generator as needed.Along the way I learned that in our off-grid situation we did not need a transfer switch. Our inverter acts as a transfer switch and also balances the power from the generator between the house and recharging the batteries.The installation was very easy, We did everything ourselves. Running the gas line was easy as we had pre-plumbed for the generator and only had to add a couple feet of pipe and connect the hose that came with the generator. Wiring was easy too. You have to hook up two power wires and a neutral. I discovered that you also have to run one line of AC back to the generator so that it can keep the battery charged. (And yes, you have to buy a car battery and install it -- this too is easy.)Inside the generator there's a display panel that comes off with an allen wrench and exposes all the wiring. There is plenty of room to work and everything is clearly marked.At first I hesitated to buy the generator because of a short and I decided baseless review that claimed it was cheap and had cheap parts. I'd like to know their credentials. To me, the unit seems sturdy; everything fits together tight; it looks attractive; it's easy to work on. The unit is quieter than I expected. Generac 5882 8 kW By GFlory While the generator is working well and is just what I wanted, this model comes without the transfer switch. Unfortunately, the installation manual provides no instructions for installing a generator without their transfer switch. I have a mechanical transfer switch from a previous generator, and I chose to use my existing setup. The necessary wiring of this generator (model 5882) can only be discerned from study of the provided generator schematics and other transfer switch schematics which Generac has available on their website. Fortunately, with and electrical engineering background, I was able to figure out how to wire the generator. I suppose one could get instructions by calling the manufacturer, but that isn't a good substitute for a few paragraphs to describe some basic installation requirements for a simple manual operation.So, while I am happy with the generator and definitely want it without the automatic transfer switch, I feel Generac is derelict in not providing support for this type of installation. 6 of 34 people found the following review helpful. Meynard I use the Sunforce 10 amp controller with a Sunforce solar panel to charge and maintain the battery on my hunting camper. We do not have commercial power available and don't want to carry a generator for a short weekend. The controller is working fine. This is the second one I have had on there. The first had a faulty digital readout screen. I had a 7 amp Sunforce, but it seemed to allow leakage overnight. This one will charge the battery up to 12.8 Volts, but apparently no more, whereas the promo says it will do 14 Volts, then maintain. It has not brought the battery up to a maintenance level as yet, but it does bring the battery back up to better than 12 Volts rather quickly after an evening of using the lights and light appliances like the furnace fan. All in all, I am satisfied with this product. 6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Compact and reliable. By M. Mcnam This Sunforce charge controller was bought as a component for my solar generator and at first, I wasn't sure it was going to work because other charge controllers are more expensive and this one had 10amps. Turns out i had nothing to worry about because the Sunforce can handle my 12 volt system. I was able to mount it straight to the battery box with some nuts and bolts and the fittings that go to the battery were exactly the size I needed.. I'm using n 80W micro-crystalline panel and so far, the controller is delivering a steady and fast charge to my battery. My 110 amphour battery gets charged back from 25% to 100% in about 6 hours. The indicator lights are easy to read and the liquid crystal voltage readout is accurate. The readout only uses 10ma which is good because it stays on all the time.Here's the fun part. We made a modification on the connections by using a 15 amp 125-Volt 2-Pole Polarized Light-Duty Plug on the panel, and a 15 amp 125-Volt Light-Duty Plug on the controller's input wires. This makes it a snap, literally, to hook up and unhook the generator box from the solar panel so I can roll it inside the house.Very pleased with this product as I'm sure you will be. 5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Sunforce 10 Amp. Charge Controller By Dreamer Interesting little device. Voltmeter is .22 VDC high, no adjustment available. Sample time for DVM is a little slow. Using to keep 100 A/Hr battery "topped off" with two solar panels. Max charging current so far is around 4 Amps which the unit handles very well, no apparent heating, no electrical noise generated. Have it diode isolated and in parallel with AC charger and they both are functioning nicely. Only thing to change would be a terminal strip vs. wires included and adjustment for DVM. Sunforce solar hanging LED light By Abby Cord from solar panel to ceiling fixture is 9' long, with an L shaped plug, so if you're going to drill a hole for it, it will need to be larger than the wire. The ceiling fixture is not shown in the pictures, but it's fairly small and comes with the screws (4) to mount it. The panel does not need to be plugged in for the light to work. All parts are black.There are 4 LED bulbs that are surprisingly bright. They are housed under a heavy glass dome that you twist off to get at the switch. The switch comes set to the OFF position. Set it to LIGHT for on at dusk/off at dawn, or to ON for indoor use which is only activated by the remote control. The remote is a single button. For indoor, click once for low light, once more for bright light,and once more to turn it back off. In outdoor mode, the light defaults to low light, and each click of the remote alternates the light between low and high. The remote has to be aimed at the ceiling fixture, not the light.The solar panel tilts and swivels. You have to attach it to the base with a small Phillips head screw, included. I have the panel sitting in a south facing window, but it also comes with mounting hardware.The bottom rim of the light hangs 30" from the ceiling when mounted. The chain has a clip on each end so you can shorten it if you like.I'm very pleased with the amount of light this puts out - the bright light is enough to read under it. The spread of light is also good - I held it up in my 14x15 living room and it lit the whole room. I have not tested it yet to see how long it will stay on, but I read a review elsewhere that said 10 hours, probably on the low light setting. 3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Works well in shed application, but kludgy installation By Ross Tracy My 16x10 shed (8ft ceiling, it's large and dark) needed some light, it sits about 40 ft from the house and I haven't yet been able to get electricity out there, so I picked up this light after looking at a few others. The features I liked were the LED light, solar powered, and most importantly, switchable on/off. The solar panel installation was a little kludgy, though. The instructions were not too detailed, but I couldn't figure out how the included metal bar came into the picture (possible I didn't need it for my application). The included screws for the solar panel were insufficient, in my opinion, very thin and short. This thing is going on the side peak of the shed roof, it needs to stay there!In any case, I drilled a hole through the shed to the inside, and I had to make it a 3/4" hole because the plug that goes to the top hanger of the light from the solar panel is "L"-shaped and wouldn't fit through anything smaller, so I had to fill in quite a hole. The hanger screws were a bit cheesy, they both stripped easily (yes, with the right sized bit) and were difficult to remove because of the way they fit into the hanger plastic.If you're handy enough, these things are pretty minor, overall the light works well and is bright enough for the large shed. It's switchable with the included remote (which I hung inside next to the door) and has two brightness settings. There is no problem with that part. The problem is the booklet that comes with the generator. It keeps the generator from getting 5 stars. It's obvious that it is poorly translated from another language. The booklet states to fill the oil reservoir with oil before starting. There is nothing telling me what type or weight oil to use. There is a service number to call but it is hard to get help. Otherwise this is a good product for emergent use. Overall, an excellent buy. Best portable solar solution on the market By Ernest Mayer I have purchased, used and tested every lightweight solar charging device on the market that I could find. The Goal0 nomad 7 and Guide 10 set is the only one that works sufficiently that I can be completely off the grid with my backpacking devices and have no need for extra batteries. See below for solar panels tested. I have been testing portable solar panels for several years now, and the Goal 0 products are the best. The Nomad 7 is the only solar panel that has the capability to charge an adequate battery pack, my headlamp AAA's, AND my smartphone/GPS all in the same day in full sunlight. It is the only panel that has reserve capacity to charge my devices in less than full sun (shady/cloudy). No other panel has the output of the Nomad 7. Its closest competitor is the Brunton panel. The Brunton weighs 20% more and is rated to output 30% less than the Nomad 7 (Brunton = 5 watts, Nomad 7 = 7 watts). In my testing the lower output was verified. The off-axis performance of the Nomad 7 is superior. It maintains full output to a greater angle of sun than any other panel I have tested. The Nomad 7 is the only panel, in my knowledge, that uses the more efficient mono-crystalline panels. It does seem to give it an edge in real-world usage. As far as flexibility, that characteristic has nothing to do with panel efficiency. Another of the well-thought out features of the Nomad 7 is the connection options. The Xpal SP-2000 and the Solio both rely on many different tips to connect to different devices. The Nomad 7 has three great options built in: 6.5 volt fast charge for the Guide 10 charger, 5 V USB connector, and a port that the included 12V female car lighter adapter plugs into. Every portable device has the option of an inexpensive car power adapter, and the Nomad 7 nicely offers that ability. The Guide 10 charger works to its rated specifications, unlike most of the other solar devices I have used. It charges AA and AAA batteries. It charges them faster with the Nomad 7 than any other solar panel/charger combination that I have tested. The Goal 0 batteries that ship with the Guide 10 are the best of their type I have tested. They are low-discharge, like the Eneloops, but much better. The Eneloops are rated at 2000 mAh, but charge only to about 1900 mAh capacity. The Goal 0 are rated at 2000 mAh, but charge to 2200 mAh. The guide 10 has some very well thought out features, including the LED flashlight, the function switch and the built-in hanging loop. These touches all demonstrate that the designers are users, and thought well about how these devices would be used. All is not perfect, though. The Guide 10 does have an overheating problem, but only in very strong sunlight and under certain conditions. This is a known issue that is being fixed as I write this. This brings me to one of my most important experiences; customer service. Goal 0 has the best customer service by far than any other of the solar panel manufacturers I have tested in this group. Immediate phone contact, responsiveness to questions and warranty service are far and away some of the best I have experienced. Following is a list of the solar panels I have tested, and short comparison comments on each.1. Powerfilm USB + AA: This one has a great form factor, is flexible and very durable, and is the lightest weight and most compact of all the solar chargers. Its fatal flaw is that it simply does not put out enough power to be practical in extended backpacking. May not be the panel for you By gehj66 I purchased the Coleman 36 Watt folding solar panel (manufactured by Sun Force) to take camping, planning on charging the battery for my pop up camper. My review is based on very limited use as it arrived twice from Amazon damaged due to inadequate shipping and product packing, after the second time I returned it for a refund. The fetchers that attracted me to this product was the folding in half for storage and travel, the adjustable stand to allow for maximum sun exposure and it included everything necessary to set up and start using. The not so good fetchers were the weight, at 30 pounds it is not the easiest to maneuver and set up. The included stand worked but is not the best design; it doesn't stay together well, takes a bit of work to adjust and is not made to move once set up. The first panel I received was damaged; the face of the panel was shattered in one of the corners, however before noticing this I had it fully assembled set up and charging my camper battery. Installation was easy with the quick connect accessories supplied. In about 30 minutes it was, I thought working fine. After setting in the sun I noticed the damage and then tested the panel with the included testing light and found that the damaged panel was not producing a current. After sending it back and receiving a new panel, it also was damaged during shipping. After receiving this product damaged twice I decided that it may not be the best panel to use for camping. If it couldn't make the shipping trip without damage I didn't think it would do any better on a camping trip with less protection. It looked like any minor impact on one of the corners was enough to shatter and crack the face of the panel. Easy, works, excellent price By Jack Stone I just got this product a few days ago but here is what I can add to the other reviews: Does as advertised, easy to use, comes with all necessary connectors (great deal in fact because the same connectors sell separately for $18-$19). Word of warning because some people are really picky about this: the metal tilt arms are non-adjustable; not a problem for me but might be for other people. The panels are compact and make for easy storage (great for camping) I inspected my order when I received it and I did not notice any cracks on the panels and both are putting out a charge (have no idea what because I don't have that kind of equipment) Overall it seems to work well. For the price asked I don't think you'll find a better one. (also as a side note: Sunforce makes the Coleman model in addition to one of its own that looks exactly the same, the difference? I have used it four or five days a week, six or eight hours per day, on average to use a heating pad on my back, run a large boom box to play cassette tapes, recharge cell phones and PDAs at various times. The fan noise that others mention was never a problem because the truck is quite loud, but I never had trouble with overheating or overloading like I did with smaller inverters with no fan. By HueyII Bought this, plugged in my iPod and as long as the iPod was powered off, while in the strong sun, it provided trickle charge. When i tried to charge with power on it would not charge at all and the battery was drained. Not what I expected.Update: I tried recharging my laptop and it works but power must be off. I was also able to charge my iPad but only with power off.I guess this will work on most gadgets as long as the power is off. I am curious whether I should get a voltage regulator.
