How The Cobra Power Inverter Works The Cobra power inverter is an electronic product that has been designed and built to take low-voltage DC (Direct Current) power from your automobile or other low-voltage power supplies and convert it to standard 115 volt AC (Alternating Current) power like the current you have in your home. This conversion process thereby allows you to use many of your household appliances and electronic products in automobiles, RVs, boats, tractors, trucks, and virtually anywhere else. Cobra 1500 Watt Output Waveform Some very sensitive electronic equipment might not operate satisfactorily on "square wave" or "modified sine wave" power. The output waveform of the Cobra Inverter is a "square wave" or "modified sine wave." It is a stepped waveform designed to have characteristics similar to the sine wave shape of utility power. A waveform of this nature is suitable for most AC loads, including linear and switching power suppliers used in electronic equipment, transformers, and motors. AC receptacles With three ground AC receptacles, you can connect and power multiple devices at once. USB Output The 5-Volt USB output allows charging and operation of modern portable devices, such as iPods, BlackBerrys, and cell phones. Remote On/Off Switch Capable An optional Remote On/Off Switch can be connected to the Remote Jack, allowing you to turn the Cobra power inverter on or off from a convenient location when the inverter is installed out of reach. Safety Features The CPI 1575 will notify you with a flashing meter and alarm sound when there is a power problem, and will shut down for protection in the following situations: Current Overload Protection--If the inverter is overloaded, it will shut down to protect itself. Short Circuit Protection--If the AC output of the inverter is short-circuited for one second or more, it will shut down to protect itself. Low Voltage Protection--If the input voltage drops to 10.0V or less, the inverter will shut down to protect itself. High Voltage Protection--If the DC input voltage rises above 15.0V, the inverter will shut down to protect itself. Over Temperature Protection--If the internal temperature rises to 40 degrees C (104 degrees F), the inverter will shut down to protect itself. Warwick This review is in response to some comments regarding wire and fuse size selections for this inverter and others like it.In response to other review quoting a table from the National Electric Code (NEC). While the table that was posted is correct for 115VAC (household voltage) is does not translate directly to 12VDC (automotive voltage). When dealing with a 12 volt system there is less concern with wires overheating, at least in the way that the NEC considers it, and far more concern with voltage drop. When running wiring a reasonable distance (a couple hundred feet or so) there is little concern with voltage drop with AC power. But when dealing with DC, simply increasing your wiring distance 5-10' can have a drastic effect on voltage drop. That is why this inverter should be wired with, at the very least, #4 wire and really should be installed with #2 or thicker, especially if you need to run wire 15 or 20 feet or more. The purpose of a fuse in a DC system is to protect the rest of your electrical system in the event of a short. That is why you always want to install your fuse as close to the battery as possible (no more then 3' if you can help it). As far as the amperage goes, there is a really good quick reference chart for automotive wire size that can be found at Tessco's web site here:[Turns out I can't link to an outside page so I'll paste the contents of the table at the bottom]. But to boil it down, you can safely fuse a 12VDC circuit at 150, or 200 amps, or more on #4, #2 or #0 wire. Now this unit at full load is something like 85% efficient. So if you do the math -- 1500 Watts / 12 Volts / .85 efficiency = ~147 amps, A 150 AMP FUSE IS REQUIRED. If you take peak power into account you would need to double that to a 300 amp fuse, but because the inverter cannot run at peak power for more then a moment, a slow-blow 150amp fuse may work just fine, or perhaps you could step up a 200amp. I wouldn't go all the way to a 300 amp fuse unless you really found that you needed it and had the inverted is wired in such a way that it could handle that level current (read: installed using very heavy gauge wire). Now if your vehicle is running while your inverter is working the amperage will be a little lower because your dealing with 14.4 VDC rather then 12 volts (watts = volts x amps -or- amps = watts / volts). But at the very least, a 150 amp ANL fuse is very good idea and not at all over sized.Just a FYI on fuses, most car stereos are installed with AGU style fuses, but they only go up to 100 amps. You will need an ANL style fuse to get one rated at 150 amps or more. Solartech SPM005P-D 5-Watt 12-Volt Polycrystalline PV Solar Panel

Polycrystalline solar panels are made from silicon wafers cut from multi-crystal silicon (they are also known as multicrystalline panels) and are also more efficient than amorphous panels. Polycrystalline panels are excellent for all small solar applications like RV's and 4WD's. Larger polycrystalline modules are also suitable for domestic and business solar installations. Polycrystalline modules come in both 12-volt modules to cater for 12-volt power systems and 24-volt modules for larger installations. They can be linked in parallel to maintain a 12-volt/24-volt system or can be linked in series to create a higher-voltage system. These modules have proven performance at high temperatures and generally feature a robust design makes the product durable in the field and easy to install. A polycrystalline solar panel is made from a block of silicon that has multiple crystals. These panels are square in shape, and may have a surface that looks somewhat like a mosaic due to all of the different crystals that make up the panel. Other types of panels may appear smooth and even, because they are made up of only silicon crystals, whereas the Polycrystalline looks fragmented and angular. The lifespan of a polycrystalline cell is a minimum of twenty-five years and can be more than fifty, making them a worthwhile investment for long term use. 10 years limited warranty of 90-percent power output and 25 years limited warranty of 80-percent power output. Instapark® 30W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel

Tired of all the noise and smell from your diesel generator? The Instapark SP-30W solar panel offers you a quiet, clean while carbon-free alternative. Capable of converting virtually unlimited solar energy into clean, green, most importantly, free electricity, this solar panel is made of high efficiency mono-crystalline solar cells embedded in transparent vinyl acetate behind tempered glass with heavy back sheet ensuring maintenance free performance. Unlike amorphous solar panels, which only last about 5-7 years of continuous use, mono-crystalline solar panels can still retain over 80% of efficiency even after 25 years of continuous use. Also, the mono-crystalline panels are much more efficient and thus smaller in size while producing higher wattage. This solar panel is designed and engineered to primarily charge 12-Volt batteries, which store and provide usable power when needed, ideal for powering your RVs, ATV, marine boats and electronic equipments. Other than recreational applications, solar power can also help lower your energy bills by reducing your dependence on the main electrical grid and provide back-up power during power outages.

Shull I searched around for a compact form solar panel with a decent watt output for my application and this works great! This isn't too much larger than the 5 watt harbor freight amorphous panel, but this instapark panel packs 6 times more power and at a good price. Using this with a Sunforce 7amp charge controller charges my 12v, sla, 20ah battery fast. Panel feels solid and it's weight reflects that. I would have liked to see better mounting options on the back of the panel, the aluminum frame has only two sides that are wide with a couple of predrilled holes. This of course requires user intervention to figure out how to attach mounting brackets. I recommend going with some aluminum 1" square bars from home depot to use as your crossmembers to mount to the back panel as a start. Stainless steel screws are a must for this type of project. 6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Bob By R. Broadway Product was delivered in good time. Product, so far, delivers what is specified. I have measured the short circuit current to be at least 1.5+ amps. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. installed for gate use By Igor Lesko I have MightyMule gate opener with solar power capability. Normally, it operates off a deep cycle 12V battery, charged by a transformer, from regular AC outlet by the gate. As a result, in case of blackouts, gate opener runs out of power in few days. After our last blackout 2 weeks ago, I said enough, and ordered this solar panel. It arrived rather fast. Considering how brittle panel is itself, packaging was sort of too flimsy for shipments that are tossed around or stacked up. It did OK, but there was minor superficial scratch on one cell and box was somewhat bent.Cable it comes with is short. Probably is 3 feet, just quite useless. I had panel installed yesterday. Checked with voltmeter, produces 17.8-18 V mid day heavy clouds.I used a satellite dish mount to mount it next to the gate opener, on gate post. Found wide and strong enough aluminum plate, drilled holes and bolted it to the panel frame, then bolted dish mount to the plate. 3 long hose clamps secured everything to the gate post.Gate opener control panel power source light went green and solid right away after panel connection. I guess, it's happy. Cable had to be extended. Will find out in a week or so, how it works, as I have large deep cycle battery there, and it takes a while to drain it, if it's not properly charged.Generally speaking, at $100 for panel, it better last long, long time, to recuperate cost. THE KIT OFFERED BY AMAZON WAS A EARLIER VERSION,THE MFG NOW PROVIDES AN IMPROVED KIT THAT REQUIRES LESS SCREWS FOR ATTACHING THE TRIM SECTIONS. THE SUPERCEDED KIT REQUIRES AT LEAST 50 SCREWS TO SECURE THE TRIM SECTIONS. I ELECTED TO USE 10/32 NYLON STUD BASE PLATES TO SECURE THE SOLAR MAT AND TRIM SECTIONS TO THE MOTORHOME ROOF. THE LATEST KIT TRIM SECTIONS HAVE ADHESIVE BACKING AND USE FEWER SCREWS. THE SOLAR MAT HAS MC3 CONNECTIONS FOR ATTACHING THE CABLE TO THE MAT BUT THE CABLE HAS NO MC3 CONNECTORS. THE MFG REQUIRES THAT THE CONNECTORS TO BE CUT OFF AND USE THE PROVIDED WIRE NUTS. THIS COULD VOID THE WARRANTY OF THE SOLAR MAT. RECOMMEND VISITING A SOLAR STORE AND BUY THE MC3 CONNECTORS AND USE AWG 10 SPLICES FOR THE CABLE CONNECTION. THIS WAS THE ONLY ISSUES DURING THE INSTALATION. THE CHARGE CONTROLLER WORKS AS ADVERTISED. BEFORE I CONNECTED THE CABLE FROM THE SOLAR MAT TO THE CHARGE CONTROLLER I MEASURED 20 VDC. THE VOLTAGE PRODUCED IN THE SHADE OR OVERCAST SKIES WILL STILL MAINTAIN THE BATTERY CHARGING WITH MIMINAL LOAD USAGE. STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. See all 1 customer reviews...

It works but lower your expectations By Michael Gordon It works, just remember to lower or expectations (true for most any solar panel actually). Today, on a window sill, I am getting 2/10ths of a watt out of this solar panel into a "Bright Bar" LED trouble light which, incredibly, it will plug directly into without adapters -- see this: Vector Bright Bar 26 LED Rechargeable Worklight -- beware that the photo of the Bright Bar shows a different charge plug than came with mine so I cannot promise for you the same convenience that I have with mine. With a better position on the sun I should be able to double it to 4/10ths of a watt at which time it would fully charge the Bright Bar in 20 hours. Behind clear glass it can deliver 70 milliamps (0.07 amps) which isn't very much. Warning: Your mileage may vary. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Never Worked By Richard Botteri I read the product description for the solar battery charger and "boat batteries" were listed. I assumed that since they listed boats that the product was waterproof... Oops on me. The product is not water proof! Well, for twenty bucks, what do you want... I was able to rig a waterproof cover for it out of an old, clear camelback hydration bladder. With that in hand, I went out assuming that it would work... Oops on me again. The led that is supposed to light to tell you that it's charging never lit up. I thought that maybe the clear pack was somehow interfering with it. So, I took it out and no go... THE PRODUCT DOES NOT WORK! If you need energy, just light a $20 bill. It's about the same cost and you'll get more energy from the fire than from this unit!!! Unfortunately, I threw away the packaging, so I couldn't return it. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. failure By John Anthony Mosby Doesn't work at all. I've tried in repeatedly on my fully RV charged battery, and it doesn't keep it from running down at all. If I still had the packaging I would surely return it for a refund. By Vinney Larue I purchased the 1200 watt 5 blade wind turbine Windmax and it arrived today so I have not yet installed but will report on that when I do. The package did not come with a packing slip. The plastic envelope on the outside of the box where the slip is often located was empty and it was not inside the box. It was packed well, but the screws were out of the plastic package and were lose within a compartment. The equipment appeared to come from China because of the English and Chinese symbols on the turbine housing. Visually, the equipment looked good with a nice white painted finish. The wind tail rudder was larger than the picture showed and it appeared very effective. I noticed the unit was heavier than I expected, and it had a rugged quality about it. There were no installation instructions per say, but they did include a "Wind Turbine Guidebook," which covered five of the HYenerty models. Their Turbine Guidebook was photo copied or they ran it off on a printer that was losing ink because the last four pages were poor quality....some of the words were badly faded and it is difficult to read. What they didn't tell you in the online sales pitch was that they do not warranty the turbine if you install it yourself. In fact, they specify that you should not even purchase it unless you have someone professionally install it for you. And they must approve the installer, which is never stated in their on-line written sales pitch. They include a four page document with all the reasons why they won't give you a warranty, and all the hoops you have to jump through to have them consider replacing a defective unit. The vendor especially insists that you even have to find an installer who must first contact them for approval before purchase and installation. I read their Wind Turbine Guidebook, and the assembly/installation process is not difficult and its pretty straight forward. 22 of 23 people found the following review helpful. Great Little Turbine!!! By themza We got the turbine up and running in just a few hours! It fit easily onto a standard 2" steel pipe. It only weighed about 50 pounds so it wasn't too difficult to mount. It came with a charge controller included which was nice. The controller has it's own dump load and has 3 led lights indicating what it's doing. Later we will add solar panels to the unit. Once the wind picked up the turbine started spinning wonderfully. The output was better than expected and quickly charged 8 12-volt deep cycle batteries. We had the batteries running into an outback off-grid inverter which handled the output of the turbine quite easily. So far I am very pleased with this purchase! 11 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Best one out there! By Johnny I bought this turbine a year ago and it has been working perfectly. By Ben Wilkinson I recently purchased this Sunlinq 12 foldable solar panel to charge up my Tekkeon MyPowerAll 3450 battery pack while out backpacking. When I connected this panel to my voltage meter I was getting about 15 volts and 900mA under full sun. This is plenty of power to juice up any of my gadgets that are able to charge via 12-volt cigarette adapter. It charges my Sony PSP, my daughters Nintendo DS, powers my GPS unit, cell phone, my MP3 player...just a great piece of kit to have in an emergency situation when there is NO electricity or hook-ups. The panel itself is very light and made of good quality and folds up nice and small. I recommend using this solar panel with the Tekkeon MyPowerAll 3450 battery (to store all your power) and make sure to also buy the Tekkeon Sunbooster adapter for the battery pack which allows the solar panel to charge the battery much faster and efficiently. Great product! 6 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Power might not be enough for photo cameras By Liviu Ionescu I have the Sunlinq 12W, plus a 12V power stabiliser, and a cheap 12V charger for the NP-FH50 accus (used by my Sony HX1 photo camera). Initial tests at home showed that the charger was active only if the sun was extremely powerful and the angle close to 90 deg. With not enough sun, not only the amps are lower, but also the voltage, so I had to add the extra 12V stabiliser to bring voltage back to charger minimums. Unfortunately, even with the stabiliser, with not enough sun, charging takes forever. I tried to use the panel last year, in a one month trekking trip in Nepal, at high altitudes (3000-6000m), with clear skies, and all I could charge was my GPS. For charging the camera accus, I had to borrow the bigger brother of this panel, the Sunlinq 25W, from a friend. Conclusions: - 12W are probably the maximum power, with extremely bright sun; in real conditions the power might be significantly lower - the charger characteristics are of great importance; if it is a cheap auto model, it'll probably stop working at about 11V you need an extra stabiliser - for real applications I would recommend the bigger Sunlinq 25W Liviu Ionescu 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. portable solar charger By azbrodie this works good if you get in a bad situation. Key Component of a Solar System Over 15 Watts A charge controller is a very important feature of a solar system and must be used on all systems over 15 Watts. A charge controller protects your batteries from overcharge and discharge. Charge controllers are the maintenance free protection of your solar panel and batteries. A charge controller monitors the battery’s state-of-charge to insure that when the battery needs change-current, it gets it, and also insures the battery isn’t overcharged. Connecting a solar panel to a battery without a regulator seriously risks damaging the battery and potentially causing a safety concern. Charge controllers are rated based on the amount of amperage they can process from a solar array.

By HMMWV If you've read the reviews, by now the acronym MPPT has shown up more than once. If you know what that means, read no further as this is not too entertaining. If you would like to know the difference in MPPT and non-MPPT solar regulators, and can tolerate some basic math or skim through it, read on and I can explain why this non-MPPT regulator will do the job, just not the BEST job possible. MPPT stands for Maximum Power Point Tracking, which sounds like a good thing, and it definitly is a must for large house size systems, but what exactly is it? Simply put MPPT finds YOUR solar array's Maximum amount of power for a given condition (full sun/overcast/panel tilt). It is always searching for the best voltage and current conditions to maximize power from the panels, which after all is what you paid big bucks for, right? Let's explore how MPPT works. Normal power regulators like this one interface between the solar panel array and the storage battery. When the battery is full, they quit charging to protect the battery from boiling the electrolyte away. Pretty simple. But what if you need more power from your solar panels than the simple case? It turns out that MPPT can, using more electronics and some intelligence, harness more power from your solar arrays than a simple on/off charge regulator. How? by using a small IC chip that searches for the highest POWER from the panel, hence the name maximum power point tracking. The tracking just means that as the sunlight changes, so does the maximum power location. Unfortunately Solar Panels are not just a source of simple DC power - that is they don't behave like a battery does. The fewer amps you draw from the panel, the higher the panel's voltage across the wires becomes. This is where most MPPT discussions end but with a couple simple equations (ohm's law) we can dive deeper into what MPPT does and why its good (and costs more). Ohms law is really simple: there are two parts: Voltage = Current times Resistance (V=I x R) Of course we can re-arrange it other ways: R = I/V, I = V/R Where I is in amps, V in volts, R in ohms. If we connect a 1 ohm (R) resistor across a 12V battery (V) then solving for I must be 12 AMPs flowing through the resistor. For POWER (one P in MPPT) we need to know another simple equation Power = Volts x Amps (DC version) In the above example, the resistor is most likely a power resistor (i.e. big) because 12 volts x 12 amps = 144 watts which gets hot real fast. In this case, the 144 watts is a power point from a battery. They are simple since small currents do not make large swings on the battery voltage and we can assume it to be nearly constant when using large storage batteries. Solar panels are quite the opposite - their voltage changes with current change. With power being the multiplier of voltage and current, you can see how this function can be maximized, which is the aim of a MPPT tracker. So how do they work this magic? read on.... Finally we need to know a little about DC to DC converters, as they are the logic controlled core of the MPPT solar battery charger. True they don't convert DC directly to another DC voltage, but they are pretty efficient (97%+) by taking an input DC POWER, making a AC voltage from it much like an inverter would, then converting that AC back to DC again for their output to the battery. And they may alter the battery voltage depending on temperature for optimal charging or even change the voltage depending on how many cells you choose to make a battery array (e.g. 12V, 24V, 48V etc). They are flexible and always seek to get as much power from your solar array as possible and put as much power in your batteries until they are full. Some models take the remaining power from your array and produce AC to be sold back to the utility company, but not all have this feature. Big Solar

There is a video on you tube with what this turbine look's like out of the box. Just search wind max turbine HY-400 on you tube. Power output is excellent for low wind. All around 5 star's. I am a electrician these can be a bit tricky to install and I suggest that you have a electrician wire them for you. The rest of the install can be fairly easy. 7 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Nice turbine By Larry G. Lupole I received this turbine in very good condition and fast. I will be setting it up as a hybrid system with my solar array of 350 watts. So my max output will now be 850 watts. I can not speak for the charge controller that comes with this turbine, because I will be using my xantrex c-60 controller instead, with a dump load hot water heater which is already in service. And yes, I did have to purchase a stop switch separately. But all in all, I think this will be a very nice addition to my system. It will cut my generator use considerably. I will also be mounting wind speed/weather station system on my turbine tower. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Work better than expected By Michael Well I have given this some time before I wrote this review. I bought 2 of these charging a 10 12v battery bank which feeds my grid tie inverters. I live in North Texas so in my area I don't have a lot of wind. As soon as I released the brake the blades started turning and only stopped for 2 days out of the month. I'm also running 1000w of solar so on a nice cloudy day the turbines pick up the slack for charging my batteries. I am very pleased with my turbines and plan on buying 2 more which will give me a total of 4 along with my solar. Sorry electric company. I'm just tired of paying your high rates. Wright I purchased one of these about five months ago from a popular online seller for $199.99 with free S&H. If you already own, or you are considering buying this gen set, you should read this. If you have experienced some of the same problems, maybe this info will be helpful. I am a retired Plant Engineer from a major world class manufacturer in the US and have 40+ years of experience with machinery and equipment so I know a lot about equipment manufacturing and repair. I really like the concept and idea of this gen set because its small, light, and it really does run about 9 hours (50% load) on a tank (1.3 gal.) of fuel but it does have its problems. I can sum up the problems I've had in two words, Quality Control! I can't speak for all the units out there, only mine. From what I have been able to gather from my research, there are several generations of this generator manufactured to date. I believe mine is somewhere in the middle with a manufacture date of Oct. 2007, so some, or all, of these issues may have been addressed with the newer ones. I will give you the good, the bad, and the ugly, as I experienced it. I have two other generators that I use for emergency power but I needed something small, light, and more fuel efficient to use at the fish camp and hunting lease. I needed only about 1100 watts for lights, and to keep the RV batteries charged, so this one seemed the perfect match. Most people buy the largest generator they can get not realizing that they have to move, store, and feed the hungry beast. When I purchased this one, gas was over $4.00 a gallon so it was senseless to use a larger one for my needs and waste precious fuel. When I took it out of the box I liked what I saw. I filled it with oil and gas and started it as per the manual. I was disappointed that it took 7 or 8 healthy pulls to finally start it. Even though it was new it should start easier and quicker when you use the choke. After letting it run for 5 minutes or so I put it under a 1000 watt resistive load. It worked fine but I noticed a substantial amount of oil under the engine. Very disappointed, I shut it down and checked for any loose nuts, screws, oil plug, etc., but could not determine from where the oil was leaking. It continued to leak even though it wasn't running so I knew it was a below oil level leak. I drained the oil/gas and called the seller expecting to exchange it. Of course they recommended that I follow the manual and call the mfg. which I had already done. On the third day of calling the seller and demanding to talk to a supervisor, and demanding an exchange for one that functioned properly without leaking oil, he finally told me they were out of stock and didn't know when they would be restocked and offered a refund of the full purchase price. I took his offer and ask him how he wanted me to handle the return S&H. His reply surprised me. They didn't want it back and he asked me if I would dispose of it. Sure I would! I think he had an idea what the problem was and it wasn't worth it for them to pay return S&H, repair cost, and then having to sell it as refurbished for a reduced price. I was sure that with a little time I could determine the cause of the leak and possibly fix the problem. I was unable to see from where the oil was leaking without removing the generator from the frame so that's what I did. It appeared that the oil was coming from under the front motor mount so I removed both motor mounts. I still couldn't tell exactly where the oil was coming from. I cleaned the bottom of the motor and then filled it with transmission fluid (do not run it like this) knowing the red color would be easier to detect. It worked! The oil was coming from a "casted in hole" that could be used for an oil drain in other applications. Manufacturers generally do this a lot so they can use their product for

Hall This solar panel combo is a solar panel plus a charge controller plus clamps - all preassembled and ready to go. Set it out in the sun, attach the clamps to a meter, and you should get what I got - 20V at .3 amps. My panel came in good condition - inside a solid cardboard box within another box. Your mileage may vary. I am pleased with the construction overall, but it does not look overly rugged. You won't want to casually toss it around too much, but it should mount nicely to a solid surface. The aluminum frame has mounting holes on the back, but the clearance is very limited. I have a Brunton foldable solar panel that cost ten times as much and only puts out 3 times the amps (same voltage). I will be buying a larger Instapark product in the future. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. 23 of 24 people found the following review helpful. Almost A Five By Amazon Junkie Appears to be very well made and a good value for the price except for the clamps. The clamps are too small for the products intended use and tinny. I easily destroyed one of the clamps when trying to grip the 12v battery pole. I cut the original clamps off and replaced them with the appropriate clamps I purchased at Radio Shack. 17 of 17 people found the following review helpful. Decent Panel By drbbq This is a pretty good little solar panel. I bout this to keep the battery on my camper topped off while not being used. The Good: Panel performs as expected. In full bright sun I measured around 350mA at about 20V (7 Watts!) The size is nice and small (about the size of a sheet of paper) as compared to the amorphous panels which are much larger for the same wattage. The cable from the panel's junction box to the charge controller is nice and long. Th Not So Good: The cover for the junction box on the back doesn't quite seal all the way around on mine. I put a small bead of caulk around it. Also the charge controller does NOT appear weatherproof. As a matter of fact it has a USB port on the side of it that is not sealed. My solution was to encase it in a weatherproof electrical box and run the wires out from there. Also, the clamps are small. Finally, the thickness of the frame is very small which makes mounting with the moutning holes challenging. Overall though, I like this panel and would buy it again. See all 22 customer reviews...

My younger sister said to me "oh you will love the saltwater , it will be so good for your skin, and it won't make your eyes burn and turn red." So I decided to go ahead and get the saltwater pool and guess what? We all love it and the water stays crystal clear hardly any work to maintain, just clean out the filter and skimmer and swim , swim , swim. Here in the hot sunny days of central Texas, a cool refreshing dip in the pool is very nice. I would buy another one if my yard was bigger! 25 of 25 people found the following review helpful. Awesome Pool! By Terri We bought this pool on sale in August 2010. It took us about a week to get it setup because we had to take it down once to get the land level - it seemed level but once we started filling the pool we noticed how off it was so we started again. Now we are maybe an inch off from one side to the other but have had no issues whatsoever. We filled the pool with salt and ran the pump and salt water generator as instructed. The pool has been up now for three weeks and is crystal clear and clean without any additional chemicals. We absolutly love how easy it is to keep clean. We got a solar cover as well which warms the pool somewhat but makes "heat spots" more than warming the entire pool - but that is OK because pools are meant to cool off! We swim in the pool everyday and cover it when not in use. We found we only have to vacuum one a week and the pool is under trees. The size is perfect for our family of four - we can even fit a few relatives and still have more personal space than when we go to the public pool! 17 of 17 people found the following review helpful. Excellent Value By Flachick I am a 62 year old woman and I put this pool up by myself in 2 hours. The hard part was leveling the ground. That did take me a couple days work. I had a pretty good slope to deal with. Once that was done I had watched the videos and just started putting it together. In 2 hours I had the pool filling with water on Saturday and went swimming Sunday afternoon. The extra couple inches in the 52" pool compared to the 48" are well worth it if your someone who likes to swim. I haven't had it up long enough to know how well the cleaning system works but if it's anything like the rest of the product I'm sure it will be just fine. Amazon.com had the best price I could find and the free shipping worked very well. The company contacted me and we worked out the delivery. I did have to open the box to unload my truck in pieces instead of the whole box at one time but each item was packed in it's own box so there was no problem with that either. No Problem By PappaDub I purchased this inverter last year to install in our new Lance P/U camper for our trip of a lifetime to Alaska. Let me say the unit worked excellent. I installed the feed cables with #2 AWG after the first attempt with #8 left to much voltage drop to the unit. Like they tell you in the manual, DUH! Anyhow the unit worked flawlessly with our 19" Samsung HDTV, no retrace lines or any interference with the TV reception, something I was slightly worried about because of the "square sine" output of the unit. Using the unit for everyday AC uses, TV, laptop, digi camera and other chargers was perfect. We would often leave it on during our long day trips and everything would be charged when we got to our destinations. And while it did run our toaster and microwave, not at the same time, the unit would "whine" a bit while doing it. It does pull pretty hard on your battery according to your load. What I really like about the unit is the low amp draw in a no load condition,

Unit Works Like A Charm But Power Rating Is Questionable By terry My Xantrex Prowatt SW2000 true sine wave inverter works well in my application but there are several details you may want to investigate. 1.) In order to handle heavy loads, high-power inverters require high-capacity battery banks and low resistance wiring and connections. 2.) Even the recommended battery/wiring system may not supply the specified voltage to the inverter for the inverter to supply its maximum rated output. 3.) The maximum rated inverter output is lower for motor loads, which are inductive. 4.) You are faced with high current surges associated with motor starting. You may be familiar with some or all of these considerations but I'll give some details. The SW2000 does produce a true sine wave as observed on an oscilloscope. It also maintains the 120 Volts under varying loads. My main application is to provide minimal emergency back up power when the utility electrical service is interrupted. During a worst case scenario test we found that our SW2000 can power our natural gas central air furnace igniter and fan motor, refrigerator, lights, bathroom exhaust fans, and computers -- all at the same time. But, all this does not fully load the inverter -- it only takes it up to about 1200 watts. During an actual emergency, we would not do this -- we would use the appliances sparingly. But, whatever the load conditions, the user's battery supply would need to keep the input terminals of the inverter up to 11 volts to avoid the "low battery" alarm from beeping or, at very least, up to 10.5 volts to keep the inverter from shutting itself off -- these features are designed into the inverter to prevent the battery charge from getting too low. Therefore, to keep the inverter input power terminals above those minimum voltage levels under heavy load conditions, the owner's guide recommends a bank of four 12-volt deep-cycle batteries, size AWG 0 wires no more than 6-feet long, terminal lugs that are crimed super tight onto the wire ends, good condition batteries that are fully charged, and all connections tight. In my own case, I could never expect the inverter to operate near the full, advertised load (1800 watts) because I am only using two batteries and smaller size AWG 2 wire. But, here's a test using a heavier load than what I need: When I start with fully-charged batteries and plug a 1500-watt electric heater into the inverter, my battery/wiring system will only supply 11.4 volts to the inverter power input terminals. After about 15 minutes, the voltage drops down to the 11-volt level and the inverter beeps its "low battery" alarm. After a little while longer, the voltage drops down to 10.5 volts and the inverter shuts itself off. This is important: when the "low-battery" alarm beeped, and later when the inverter shut itself off, THE BATTERIES WERE NOT ACTUALLY LOW and THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE INVERTER. The problem is that my battery/wiring system is not sufficient to support the heavier, 1500-watt load for very long. The specific gravity of the battery acid did not indicate a low charge in the batteries. The inverter was not defective. The inverter only did what it was designed to do. My undersized battery/wiring system only made it look as if there might be a low-battery or inverter problem. The 1500-watt heater overloaded my battery/wiring system. The inverter is OK. The batteries are not low. I can use our inverter-battery system successfully with our usual, smaller load -- like the essential home appliances that I mentioned previously. All of the above is not to say that there can not be hardware problems or exaggeration in advertising. I only mean to help users by conveying some of the pesky details needed to get good results. I wish it were not so ... but ... if I needed the absolute full capacity (1800 watts) of the SW2000, I would not only buy two more

On in a Jeep Wrangler that I take offroad and camping. Works great for powering lights, etc. Handles the abuse of bouncing around on rocky terrain fine. I have the unit installed under the dash and leave it on 24/7. Has yet to drain the battery due to its small standby draw (I drive it atleast every other day). The fan only turns on when the output exceeds 100 watts making this unit very quiet. The other inverter is installed under the passegner seat in a Toyota Sequoia. Never had any issues with this one either. Works great for powering the PlayStation2, portable DVD players, and other electronics. Since the 700 model is cabable of powering electronics of 560 watts 4.8 amps continously, which is 46 amps on 12v power it is not able to be used through your cigarette lighter. The cigarette wiring is too thin to handle this kind of current not to mention the cigarette lighter fuse is not rated for it either. Xantrex provides battery clamps, which I find don't work well if you want the inverter inside the vehicle. The solution is to pickup some 6 gauge wire from your local Home Depot or Lowes and some heavy duty terminals and heat shrink. Mount the inverter and run 6 guage red wire to the battery. Crimp on the terminals and heat shrink it. For the ground I used a bolt on the firewall of the Jeep and the bolt on the seat in the Toyota. Use 6 guage black wire for this. If the above is not something you want to do your local audio installation store should be able to install it. Otherwise go with the XPower 400 watt model which can be used with the cigarette lighter for small loads, it does require the battery clamps or hard wiring for loads over 150 watts. 159 of 172 people found the following review helpful. Before you buy By A Customer This item is not compatible with a cigarette lighter. I bought one and it came with two connectors to attach directly to the terminals on a car battery. The instruction manual specifically states that the 700 unit cannot be powered by a cigarette lighter, but the smaller 400 and 175 models can. 72 of 75 people found the following review helpful. For emergency use By J.F.L.-Fairfax VA I have one of these power inverters for those instances (about 3 times/year)of power losses from rain- or snow-storms. Between my car, the car battery and the power inverter, I have the equivalent of a generator. Be sure to determine the wattage of the electrical devices that will be powered. A 32"-TV will require about 190 watts; floor- or desk lamps require about 75 watts each; a laptop computer needs about 47 watts. A 25-cuft side-by-side refrigerator uses about 750 kilowatt-hours per year (about 85 watts average; 170 watts "surge" when the compressor kicks in ) See all 27 customer reviews...

I'll explain why and give altnernate choices with similar features and better compatibility. I hope this helps you to make the right decision using my experiences. The models I own and use daily are my oldest in the fleet from xantrex (prosine 1000) Xantrex Technologies Prosine 1000 Prosine 1,000 to 1,500-Watt Power Inverter, their newer, true sine lower cost model the prowatt SW1000 Prowatt SW1000 1000W True Sinewave Inverter and the most recent low cost true sine 1000W that can't do 1000W from sunforce Sunforce 11240 1000-Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter with Remote Control. I've used these extensively in remote power operation of tools and equipment where no AC was available in service vehicles. This model from Xantrex is atypical in that it produces "modified sine wave" power instead of "true sine wave power" like most of thier inverters. The end result to you is that some devices don't mind modified sine wave power, while others can be destroyed by it. Typically modified sine wave power is alot cheaper to produce than true sine wave power, but items with coils like florescent ballasts, transformers, even the big heavy wall transformers will overheat quickly - between an hour and 3 hours. Motors run hot and prolonged use will burn them out, but in an RV say a coffee grinder is only run for a few seconds and doesn't suffer any damage from the modified sine wave. Other sensitive devices are clocks which see the sudden voltage change instead of the smooth voltage change of a sine wave as being a zero crossing, so they count the extra 2 steps in making the waveform as seconds and run 2, 3, or even 6 times faster than normal depending on the clock and inverter. Audio devices powered by 110V like clock radios, ipod adapters with speakers, stereos, all lack filtering for the odd harmonics of 60hz such as 180 hz, 300 hz, 420 hz, and on up. When run from modified sine waves these sound like alot of low frequency hum is comming out. You can research "modified sine wave" on google to further pursue it's good points and bad points, but for this review just know it's NOT the same as what comes from your house outlet or a generator. Also understand that any inverter of this size requires 1/2 - 1.5 Amps just idle. In the Xantrex pro-sine series they installed a powersave function that when not being used (i.e. all 117VAC stuff is off) the inverter checks every 2 seconds to see if anything was switched on, and if so it stays running until the load is switched off. This helps to maximize your runtime on battery and the prosine units can be ordered with the automatic cutover feature offered in this inverter. The sunforce unit has another cute trick - a keyfob transmitter that turns the inverter on/off manually. The good news about these inverters is that its an optimal switching point for an RV. It can take input power from an RV park or generator and when that is lost because the cord is pulled or the genset runs out of fuel, the inverter kicks in automatically and takes the load. This is a major plus for RV use where power may come from many sources or none at all sometimes. When producing power from battery I recommend investing in the optima D31M blue top deep cycle battery or 2 in parallel so as to maximize runtime Optima Batteries 8052-161 D31M BlueTop Dual Purpose Battery. These can be drained without damage to the battery while a normal battery may only tolerate total discharge a dozen times in its life before fallout from plate damage collects at the bottom and shorts out 1 cell ruining the battery. I recommend 2 batteries in parallel to share the load because if you approach 1000 watts out, you will see currents in the 105-115 A continuous range from the battery. By putting 2 in parallel connected with heavy

Go Power Solar Panel By Ed Montreuil Our newly installed, 80 watt solar panel by Go Power performed flawlessly on our first trip out. We dry camped for two days, and the solar panel kept our single battery charged up to 100% both days, even though we used our radio and lights extensively. We went to bed with our battery fully charged, and confident that our trailers battery would run the trailers furnace as needed throughout the night, without the battery going dead. In the morning, once the sun was up high enough to shine on the solar panel, the battery took a mere two hours to reach a 100% charge, from a night time low of 67% from running the furnace. In storage, as our trailer is for an average of 27 days and nights each month, the solar panel keeps the trailers battery fully charged and in good condition. I like this solar panel system, and I'm happy that I purchased it here on Amazon.com. See all 1 customer reviews...
